The tutorial is shown in a screen sharing view as viewers are talked through a few basic tasks. The five minute video takes the viewer through an example of the different ribbons for various tasks; the options given in the Backstage area; and the PowerPoint Options section said a press release.

According to the release, one of the new features of the latest version of PowerPoint is the ability to customise the ribbon, creating personal tabs that enable the user to have quick access to the tools most useful for individual PowerPoint needs. This function provides the user with more options when creating and managing PowerPoint slides, enabling quicker and easier editing.

The backstage area is also explained, where there are many options, such as the ability to manage different versions of a file. This function is designed to lessen the risk of losing work when editing. The backstage area also offers better control over privacy and sensitive data than has been seen in previous versions of the software.

Nicholas Oulton, founder of m62, said: “Users often resent having to upgrade their software, they’ve got used to an old version, so don’t see the point in learning to use a new one. PowerPoint 2010 does offer some great new functionality."

“Our brief tutorial aims to show current PowerPoint users that the new version offers something new. m62 will be offering PowerPoint training as soon as the new software is commercially released, our trainers are already getting to grips with 2010’s new features,” added Oulton.
