M F Farooqui takes over as DoT's new Secy

NEW DELHI, INDIA: M F Farooqui took over as the Secretary of the Department of Telecom (DoT).

Prior to this role, Farooqui of the batch of the Indian Administrative Service from the Tamil Nadu Cadre had served as the Secretary of the Department of Heavy Industry, according to a government press release.

He has also served as the special secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forests. He has worked as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Union Ministry of Finance.

In the mid-nineties he worked as Consul General of India in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has also worked as Chief Executive and Member Secretary of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, as per the official release.
