LSI unveils video processing software

BANGALORE, INDIA: LSI Corporation, a provider in silicon, systems and software technologies recently announced real-time, on-demand, multimedia transcoding software for LSI StarPro multicore media processors.

The LSI StarPro multicore media processors enables flexible, cost-effective solutions for any-to-any video communications and real-time collaboration through next-generation media gateways, said a press release.

“Demand for high-definition video is growing rapidly, and it is critical to support services that provide high-quality video regardless of the format and resolution of the end points,” said Will Strauss, principal analyst with Forward Concepts.

He added that with the introduction of their video processing software, LSI offers a low-cost, high-performance solution for a broad spectrum of digital video applications.

The new transcoding software provides multi-channel, state-of-the-art multimedia processing that would enable OEMs to meet the real-time, high-definition quality requirements for video collaboration services. It is scalable, field upgradeable and delivers very high performance while reducing costs, said the release.

"The rapid growth of multimedia services has increased the need for cost-effective, enterprise-class solutions that can enhance video quality over existing networking infrastructure,” said Charlie Kawwas, vice president of marketing, Networking Components Division, LSI.

“Our customers are using LSI media processing software and StarPro Media Processors to build the industry’s highest-performing video multimedia gateways now.”

Real-time, multimedia collaboration services are an increasingly useful tool for both businesses and individuals. The software is available now from LSI for use with the StarPro SP2600 family of media processors, added the release.
