LogicaCMG gets $12 m deal for B'lore

BANGALORE: Europe’s software services provider, LogicaCMG has signed a $12 million deal for offering offshore applications management and IT support contract with Britannia Airways in the UK. A statement informed that the scope of the 5-year contract covers management, support and enhancement of over 120 of Britannia Airways’ IT applications, which LogicaCMG will deliver out of India. The company has an offshore development center in India’s IT capital, Bangalore.

With a current strength of over 600 staff, the Bangalore center is growing its headcount to over 1200 employees by the end of 2004. It handles the design, development, and implementation of software solutions and products, as well as supports applications management services for LogicaCMG worldwide.

LogicaCMG currently manages the support and enhancement of all of Britannia’s applications, including finance, human resources, engineering, flight scheduling, crew allocation, sales, data warehouse/ MIS, e-commerce, Intranet, document management and desktop applications.

Mike Weston, chief executive of LogicaCMG’s offshore services business said, "This contract has immense significance for LogicaCMG’s Offshore Services’ operation in India, as it affirms Britannia Airways’ confidence in LogicaCMG’s offshore support and delivery capability for complex IT applications. We believe in delivering the best value for clients like Britannia, with whom we have an enduring business relationship."

Neil Boulton, Head of IT at Britannia Airways, commented, "We decided to modify and extend our contract with LogicaCMG to adopt their "hybrid" approach giving us the ability to have the service delivered across the UK and India. Our long-term relationship with LogicaCMG combined with their technical capabilities in India gives us great confidence going forward."
