BANGALORE: While global IT services majors are increasing the offshoring component of their business operations, they face the problem of standardizing their processes and systems across their various global locations.
European IT major LogicaCMG, which has delivery centers spanning across regions like India, UK, Netherlands, Germany and Eastern Europe, also faces the same predicament. To address this issue, the company has undertaken an initiative called “Global Control Bridge” that uses networks, systems and tools to ensure a good governance system across the company.
“Our vision is to have every single customer go through a common standard interface. Companies keep talking about this concept. But in reality, they don't exist. We feel that we have a lead in this area,” said Rahul Patwardhan, CEO, LogicaCMG India.
Patwardhan said that the Control Bridge would become a reality by end of 2006. He also said that despite the trend of Indian IT companies going for quality and maturity models, quality metrics differ from project to project. “The system is not just there to follow standard processes across the board.”
The company has decided to consolidate its various delivery pieces into a single business unit-Global Services Delivery (GSD) organization. Around 4000 employees spread across the company's various centers would be included under this division, which would have its own CEO.
This is aimed at streamlining its services business and drive standardization of processes across the company.
