Logica achieves CMMI level 5 certification

BANGALORE, INDIA: Logica, a leading IT and business services company, has today announced that its Bangalore Operation has been certified CMMI Level 5 maturity level, the highest maturity level under the CMMI model.

Abhay Gupte, CEO, Logica India said: “The industry spend is in excess of $ 6.1 billion on independent testing. This is predicted to grow at CAGR above 10 percent with testing delivered from India growing above 15 percent. This shows the increasing demand and importance of operational excellence and quality assessment in the sector."

The SEI CMMI certification is recognised worldwide for its technologies that help organisations deliver efficient and quality products and processes. This achievement is a result of continuous monitoring of the projects, its performance using key metrics, which are then benchmarked, to identify improvement areas, he added.

CMMI is a process improvement approach sponsored by SEI (Software Engineering Institute of the Carnegie Mellon University).The Lead Appraiser recommended to SEI that the Bangalore operations are operating at CMMI Level 5 maturity level. This assessment was conducted under the latest version i.e. v 1.2. A reassessment was conducted by KPMG, a global leading assessment body.

K.K Raman, lead appraiser, KPMG Bangalore said “The level of institutionalization of processes across the organization unit is found to be good and processes are seen to be used consistently across projects / service delivery. It is great to see that people believe in continuous improvement. Also, it was good to observe sustained management commitment for process initiatives."

"Client Relationship has been perceived to be matured over a period of time through continual improvement initiatives. Logica India is perceived as a COE for innovation, testing and related areas,” added Raman.
