BANGALORE, INDIA: Nokia is expected to release its mobile computer device - Nokia N900 - in India soon. The device runs on Linux-based Maemo 5 operating system and guarantees PC like experience.
Nokia N900 features a high-resolution, 3.5-inch, WVGA touch screen and fast Internet connectivity with 10/2 HSPA and WLAN. The phone is powered by ARM Cortex-A8 processor, up to 1GB of application memory and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration. The browser user on the phone is powered by Mozilla technology. The phone also supports Adobe Flash 9.4. It also has a slide out QWERTY Keyboard.
Jasmeet Gandhi,Head of Product and Services Marketing, Nokia India, has been quoted in news reports stating that Nokia N900 has been designed specifically to address the unique needs of consumers, who are obsessed with all new forms of technology.
The Nokia N900 has 32GB of storage, which is expandable up to 48GB via a microSD card. It has a 5 megapixels camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a dual LED flash. The phone also supports social networking sites and even many chat client like Gtalk and Facebook, alongside email, video call and many such features.
Gandhi said that new device is expected to kick start a new era of mobile computing as it will be based on open source operating system, faster multitasking ability, incorporated technology like an OMAP processor, real time web widgets and the ability to be connected just about anywhere.
Sale on June 9th in India and the price is expected to be around Rs. 30,639.
