BANGALORE: HP showcased its strategy for the Open Source community in India at Linux Bangalore-2004. The company's Linux Strategy focuses on open systems, open standard and low cost industry-standard platforms. The baseline element for HP's "Linux for the Real World" strategy is on industry standard open platforms. The next key element of the strategy is the ability to deploy with confidence. The third element is a focus on end-to-end solutions. The last pillar of the strategy that HP has in order to deliver a real-world solution for Linux is around freedom and flexibility and the best return on investment.







HP is the Platinum Sponsor at Linux Bangalore-2004. "HP has already contributed and will continue to contribute key technologies to the Open Source community. We have had great success worldwide in the Open Source arena. We contribute and also give developers the opportunity to contribute back to the Open Source community," said Hewlett-Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd high performance computing & Linux country manager Faisal M Paul.







HP formed the Open Source & Linux Operation (OSLO) to coordinate HP's company-wide Linux strategy "Linux for the Real World," and industry leaders from HP will utilize Linux Bangalore/2004 to communicate its Open Source initiative to the Linux community.







Some of the key HP presentations at Linux Bangalore-2004 include, Smart Froga- a framework for automatic configuration and management of distributed applications, Nunit - a unit testing framework for .Net languages under Mono.

The company is expected to demonstrate high availability solution for Linux using ServiceGuard, OpenSSI clusters, and Smart Frog.







Linux Bangalore/2004 is a three-day conference that covers a diverse spectrum of Free and Open Source (FOSS) technologies, ranging from kernel-programming and embedded systems to desktop environments, localization, databases, and Web applications.
