NEW DELHI: Yes, it is going to be a reality very soon. Red Hat has developed the Hindi version of open source based Linux in association with different community groups and is about to launch the product soon in the Indian market.

"We are going to launch the beta version of this product. The beta version would be available very soon as - the Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS for the desktops. Initially, we would be targeting all the Hindi speaking regions and states for this product," Dabir added.

Red Hat India is already partnering with Madhya Pradesh government constituted Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission (RGSM) to help bring computer-enabled education to the masses in the state, on the Linux platform. As part of the Headstart program, the first phase of implementation in 2,200 schools was rolled-out recently.

According to the company, this makes it the biggest implementation of open-source technologies in schools in the country to date and the soon to be launched Hindi version of Linux is likely to go the MP way as far as initial deployments are concerned.
