BANGALORE: Linksys, a provider of networking hardware for the
small/medium enterprise (SME), small office/home office (SOHO) and enterprise
markets and broadband networking hardware for the home, has announced a new
range of networking products for next generation Internet.
The new broadband and networking solutions are EtherFast
Cable/DSL Router with a built-in 4-port switch, EtherFast 8-Port Cable/DSL
Router and the EtherFast 1-Port Cable/DSL Router.
The EtherFast 8-Port Cable/DSL Router can support Internet
access with up to 253 users. Currently, Linksys is looking at the ISP market for
these routers. These products will allow users to have a plug-and-play network
connectivity. Also available are multi-faceted products like Gigabit-ready
switches, Network-Attached Storage devices that serve as virtual CD-ROM Servers
as well as RAID Servers.
"We understand the needs of our users and there’s no
doubt that they want Internet access built into their own local area network. We
are always looking at ways to incorporate their Internet needs as well as their
networking requirements so that we can come up with innovative products as the
solution for them all," said Linksys country manager — India Satish Rao.
The US-based Linksys, which has been into the manufacture of
networking hardware in the retail channel for the past three and a half years,
has about 30 per cent market share. In India, the company has its head office in
Bangalore and sales office in Mumbai. Linksys provides broadband networking and
networking solutions that include the Network Starter Kits and Phoneline
networking solutions. The company generated revenues of Rs 2.9 crore last year.
This year it is projecting revenues of Rs 8 crore.
