LinkedIn strengthens India ad team

MUMBAI, INDIA: LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network with 75 million members worldwide, of which over six million are in India, today announced two key appointments to boost its advertising offerings in India.

Dhiman Mukherji has joined LinkedIn India as director, advertising sales and Sunny Saurabh as head of advertising solutions to further expand and strengthen LinkedIn’s presence in India, said a press release.

LinkedIn had on Wednesday said that it would acquire Pittsburgh-based mSpoke to help improve its ability to filter messages and news articles that its users share on its network.

LinkedIn said an increasing number of businesses in India are reaching out to this professional network to utilize its advertising solutions given its targeted approach and the ability to connect with a focused audience.

LinkedIn India is now building an in-house advertising sales and solutions team to directly engage with companies here as well as develop and deliver custom solutions for its customers.

Dhiman, who brings over 13 years of experience in the media industry, will lead LinkedIn’s advertising sales efforts in India by engaging with clients to communicate and develop LinkedIn’s unique value creation capabilities to their business, said the release.

Prior to joining LinkedIn, he was the Head of Sales at AOL and also has sales experience with Google. In addition to building the ad sales business, Dhiman will also focus on building a motivated, in-house sales team for LinkedIn in India.

As head of advertising solutions, Sunny will focus on developing customized solutions, facilitating engagement with customers, partners and even potential employees, said LinkedIn. Sunny has over six years of experience in media having worked with UTV New Media, MySpace and Google.
