LinkedIn names new country manager for India

MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA: LinkedIn, a social networking site for professionals, which claims to have more than 52 million members globally and 3.4 million members in India, today announced the appointment of Hari V. Krishnan as country manager for India, as part of its expansion plans in the country.

Krishnan’s long-term responsibility would be to grow the company’s diverse business model comprising user subscriptions, advertising sales and enterprise software licensing for the Indian market, said a press release.

“India is one of our fastest growing and most exciting opportunities. Hari’s addition to the LinkedIn team will not only help us better serve our membership and customers on a local basis, but will also help accelerate our goal to connect the world’s professionals,” said Jeff Weiner, chief executive officer of LinkedIn.

The LinkedIn user base in India is growing at approximately 70,000 per week, runs more than 2 million searches per week and has created more than 30,000 groups to date, added the release.

Currently, the company has more than 60 advertisers in India which include brands such as General Motors, Microsoft, Reuters and Tanishq.
