LinkedIn hits 100 mn members worldwide

MUMBAI, INDIA: LinkedIn, the professional networking site, today announced a milestone in its development, 100 million professionals are now members of the network worldwide.

In India, LinkedIn has hit 9 million users

This means a steady growth of roughly one million new LinkedIn members every week, the equivalent of a professional joining the site at faster than one member per second. In India, LinkedIn has just hit 9 million users this month, said a press release. For months back its member base was 85 million.

LinkedIn is rapidly growing its network globally, the site is currently available in six languages and more than half of its base comes from outside the U.S. 

The site has filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in January 2011.
