Likewise to provide cross-platform authentication

USA: Likewise has recently announced support for the newest Linux operating platform, giving system administrators the ability to immediately integrate Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 users into their current Active Directory infrastructure.

Likewise Open enables desktops and servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux to join an organization's existing Active Directory. Likewise Enterprise builds on the authentication engine of Likewise Open, making it simple for IT managers to authenticate users, control access to applications and data, centrally manage settings with group policies, and create reports for regulatory audits.

"With the advanced cloud capabilities of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, it becomes more important than ever for businesses to simply and securely manage their infrastructure," said Barry Crist, CEO, Likewise.

"Likewise Open provides a free, open source authentication platform for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 on the day of launch that can be easily upgraded for reporting, auditing and other advanced usage," added Crist.

Likewise is a previous winner of the annual Red Hat Innovation Award in the category of "Enhanced Security" cited for its effective use of Red Hat solutions to heighten the security of IT systems.

In addition, Likewise is a Red Hat Ready Business Partner with software that has been tested and built from the ground up to work well with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
