Throwing light on the new scheme, R Manikandan, GM—Sales and Marketing, IT Products, LG said, “On the channel front we have initiated an exclusive scheme for our system assemblers, wherein for every five units of monitors sold they would get a mobile phone; a microwave oven for every 10 units; a washing machine for every 15 units and a window air conditioner for every 25 monitors. The offer is valid from May 1 to June 31, 2009.”

Manikandan also pointed out that the company has made the redemption process simple so that partners can simply walk into an LG branch office and redeem the points themselves, without going through an external agency. LG completed the launch of its monitor TVs in the South with a grand launch in Chennai yesterday.

It had earlier made similar launches in Cochin, Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Hyderabad during last weekend. The monitors are available at 18.5-inch (Rs 12,990), 21.5-inch (Rs 15,990) and 23-inch (Rs 17,990). On the consumer front, the company is offering DTH connection free of cost for the first six months as an inaugural offer and customers have the option of choosing between the three service providers—Airtel, Tata Sky and Sun Direct.

Speaking on the unique aspects of these monitor TVs, Manikandan pointed out that the 21.5-inch and 23-inch come with Full HD features and the 18.5-inch model comes with HD Ready feature.

“Generally in all other brands, the Full HD and HD Ready feature comes with only in the 32-inch and above models. However, we have made the HD feature available starting from the 18.5-inch models. Moreover, with the PCP-IP technology, the monitor could be used as computer as well as a television simultaneously.”

FY 2008 was a strategic year for LG, where the company increased its marketshare from 11 percent in Q1 to 20 percent by the end of Q4, almost doubling its presence in the market.

According to Manikandan, the 360 degree marketing approach was a key enabler for LG having achieved this milestone. He mentioned that the slowdown didn’t have any impact on the growth of the company and LG was able to achieve the robust growth comfortably.

The company is now gearing up for the launch of a slew of new products across different verticals and is planning to tie-up with partners who have good expertise in respective verticals.

Currently there are about 600 regional distributors, 1,000 resellers and 5,000 system builders, who have registered with LG and Manikandan informed that more number of resellers and system builders would be added. However, the regional distributors would be added only to address the geographical necessity in a particular region.
