The launch can happen in just two months' time, said Sanjoy Bhattacharya, product group market head (IT) LG Electronics here on Friday. LG already has presence in the computer products market with its LCD/LED monitors, projectors and optical media devices.

The news of LG venturing into the laptop market comes at a time when trends have indicated a nose-dive for monitor market in the coming years. LG Electronics commands a solid 18 per cent market share in the global monitor market.

In addition to laptops, LG is also expected to release Internet Television which would come with built-in flash memory. The device is targeted at home users who would like to visit websites but would not need higher storage.

It may be recalled here that there are about 60 lakh monitors being sold in India annually. However, according to various research reports, the monitor sales is expected to take a nose dive in three years' time due to the increasing popularity of laptops and tablet devices.
