Lenovo launches Android 3.1 platform based tablets

MUMBAI, INDIA: Lenovo, the pc maker today announced a global strategic plan to tap the tablet market in next six months. Company said it will introduce tablets of varying sizes and platforms targeting customers' individual needs.

Lenovo launched its first family of tablets — IdeaPad Tablet K1 for consumers and ThinkPad Tablet for business customers in India. Its for the first time company has launched mobile Internet devices based on Android 3.1 platform.

These new tablets are powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core mobile processors to offer superior multitasking, faster web browsing, gaming and low power consumption for  improved battery life.   

“Tablets are extremely personal technology devices used primarily for data consumption. Lenovo's tablet strategy is to create a family tablets suited to various entertainment and mobility requirements.So whether it's the IdeaPad for entertainment or the ThinkPad for busienss, we have listened to our customers and are delivering Andriod tablets designed to meet their particular needs, “ said Amar Babu, Lenovo India's managing director.

“We have also loaded our tablets with a lot of distinct features that will make these machines very appealing,” Babu added.

Lenovo's 10 inch ThinkPad Tablet offers business-friendly features to enhance productivity for professionals as well as security and manageability for IT managers. The 10 inch IdeaPad K1 offers surreal entertaining and mobility allowing consumers to enjoy life on the go.

Later, it will come out with 7 inch IdeaPad A1 to offer unmatched mobility and entertainment experience at on affordabale price, the company claimed.

The Android based Lenovo Tablets comes with over 40 preloaded apps customized to Indian users. Customers will also have access to tested apps for Lenovo devices in the Lenovo App Shop along with over 250,000 apps available in the Andriod Market.

The price of ThinkPad Tablet starts from Rs.29,500 for a 16GB WiFi model, while for the 3G connection based 32GB and 64GB variants are priced at Rs.41,900 and Rs.46,900 respectively.

The IdeaPad K1 Tablet comes with WiFi and 3G connectivity with mini HDMI port for HDTV viewing and microSD port storage support. It is priced at Rs.29,500 for 32GB WiFi model and Rs.33,990 for 3G variant.

Company's upcoming tablet — IdeaPad A1 will have a 7 inch touch display weighing 1.7 lbps and 5inch thickness. It will be based on Andriod 2.3 with full support of 10.2 Flash content plus Lenovo SocialTouch that manages all social networking engagements on a single user interface. It is priced at Rs.14,990 for 16GB WiFi model.

These products will be available in the market by end of October and will be available across 700 exculsive stores apart from retail chains.
