Lenovo Elevates Amar Babu as President, Asia Pacific Business

Lenovo has appointed Amar Babu to lead the company’s business in the overall Asia Pacific region. The region will include Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, ASEAN, Australia, New Zealand, and India and South Asia. He succeeds Ken Wong, who will become President, Lenovo Solutions and Services Group. The latter aims to capitalize on the Group’s service-led transformation growth opportunities. In his new capacity, Amar Babu will lead the PC, Smart Devices, Mobile and Data Center businesses across the Asia Pacific.


About Amar Babu

Over the past 13 years, he has held various leadership positions at Lenovo. Before this, Amar Babu was the Vice President of Lenovo Services Operations for Rest of the World, spearheading the services operations and delivery for Lenovo PC, Smart Devices, Mobile Business & Data Center Group across North America, Asia Pacific, EMEA and Latin America. He took up the post of the Vice President & Services Operations Leader, Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group in 2018. He was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Lenovo Asia Pacific for three years. Before that, he was the Managing Director, Lenovo India and South Asia starting from 2007. Before joining Lenovo, he has held many leading technology positions, including at HCL, Citibank, and Intel.

He has been a key figure in the Indian IT industry and was a member of the Manufacturer’s Association for IT (MAIT), where he served on its Executive Committee for three years. Babu has worked closely with the government to create policies and initiatives to accelerate India’s digital transformation. He believes strongly in diversity and inclusion and serves on Lenovo’s Diversity & Inclusion board.

Amar holds an MBA degree from XLRI Jamshedpur. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from PSG College of Technology. Amar is based in Mumbai with his wife and son. Further, his hobbies include cooking and riding bikes.
