CALCUTTA: Calcutta-based LearningSpiral.com Pvt. Ltd. will launch its new portal www.buckleyourshoe.com in the third week of March. "We have very ambitious plans and hope that the site will cater to all the requirements of students planning a career. We have counselors who can advise the student on their aptitude and the various courses that are available. A series of tests will also help one determine what the right choice would be. And this is complimented by our huge database of colleges, polytechnics and training institutions," says Madhulika Mohta, General Manager, Corporate Strategy.

The company has already arranged with Sanjay Chugh, presently with the Times of India, as a counselor. Various NGOs will help with stress counseling. The company plans to sustain its efforts by charging fees from colleges and institutions, which will be listed on the site. Besides, for a couple of very specialized tests, the student will also be charged. Some of the counseling services will also generate revenue for the site. There are also plans to feature text books and other learning material which can also be bought on the site.

Other plans include launching an online club of students to enable them to interact with counterparts throughout the country. A Topper’s Network in various academic fields will also guide students by providing them with tips on how to make it to the top.

"Presently we are concentrating on building the site. The marketing team would be added later on," says Anshu Shah, General Manager, Finance. "Our liaison offices all over the country have helped us generate this huge database. More than the urban student, we want to reach out to those in small towns and cities. Besides a listing of institutions in India, we will also provide information from Bangladesh, Nepal and later other neighboring countries."
