Lava dials into IBM cloud to ensure uninterrupted business operations

BANGALORE, INDIA: Lava International Ltd (Lava), a leading Indian mobile handset company, has selected IBM SmartCloud Virtualized Server Recovery (VSR) services, a cloud-based disaster recovery solution, to ensure continuous business operations, manage costs and improve overall resiliency.

Founded in 2009, Lava quickly has emerged as a dominant player in the mobile handset market in India, growing its revenue by 15 percent a month to become one of the top three Indian brands over a period of just three years.

Today, Lava offers a wide product portfolio that encompasses tablets, feature phones and smart phones having various models in bar and touch form factor at multiple price points to suit all categories of consumers

IBM's SmartCloud VSR services provide world-class automation and cloud tools to help businesses facilitate quicker recovery time and increase reliability of their server recovery. Lava now has a back up option to support its more than 2000 internal and external users, including top retailers and distributors in India.

Lava has signed a 10-year deal to avail cloud services out of IBM's Bangalore data center. IBM will also perform 24/7 monitoring and management through automation of the hosted infrastructure.
