LONDON: Wireline chip spin-off from Infineon Technologies AG, Lantiq Deutschland GmbH, has announced the introduction of a 65-nm chipset for carrier linecards, which support the global VDSL2 and ADSL/2/2+ standards.

Lantiq states that the Vinax V3 has a power consumption of 900-milliwatts per channel that is designed to meet the low-power design requirements defined in the EU Code of Conduct (CoC) on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment, according to EETimes report.

Each Vinax V3 chipset occupies an area of 29 mm x 29 mm for 16 channels in VDSL2 Profile 17a. An 8-channel solution for VDSL2 profile 30a requires 30 percent less area. This is also the first VDSL2 solution to work with either Class AB or low-power Class H line drivers, said the company.

Sources say that the chipset is capable of driving data rates up to 150 Mbps downstream and 100 Mbps upstream on a single line, while supporting services like high-definition IPTV, high-speed Internet access, multi-player gaming networks and VoIP. Vinax V3 also integrates a controller for remote line testing by carriers without having to use external equipment.

As of now the Vinax V3 chipset, including digital front end (DFE), analog front end (AFE) and line driver chips, are sampling to lead customers.
