FuseMail selected Funambol due to the benefits that an open source push email solution provides: broad device support, robust capabilities and superior value. FuseMail will provide its SMB users with the ability to access email on a wide variety of smart and feature phones, including BlackBerries and Windows Mobiles. FuseMail will also enable users to sync PIM data (e.g. contacts, calendars, tasks and notes) between their cell phones, such as the iPhone, and email clients such as MS Outlook. The service will be available directly to FuseMail's customers as well as via its growing network of resellers around the world.

"As a leading provider of outsourced email, FuseMail distinguishes itself by offering innovative email capabilities at low cost to SMBs, ISPs and webhosting companies," said Bryan Heitman, President of FuseMail. "Deploying Funambol push email and PIM sync to our customers and reseller network is a natural extension of our value-added services. Funambol provides us with a major edge by supporting a broad range of devices, quickly integrating into our infrastructure and offering a highly affordable price point."

FuseMail's deployment of Funambol for push email and PIM sync is indicative of a growing trend among organizations that provide email, contacts and calendar data. Their users are increasingly seeking access to email on their mobile devices and are willing to pay a modest monthly fee. This allows companies such as FuseMail to introduce a popular new mobile service that differentiates itself and makes their users more loyal and less likely to switch providers.

"FuseMail is at the forefront of service providers who are seizing a large opportunity to provide mobile email and PIM sync services to the mass market," said Fabrizio Capobianco, Funambol CEO. "They are a showcase example of a service provider that is leveraging open source for all the right reasons -- broad mobile device support, rich capabilities and great value."

FuseMail selected Funambol's software during the second calendar quarter of 2008, the most successful quarter in Funambol's history. Funambol completed a company-record ten sales transactions with innovative providers of email and PIM sync around the world, including several well-known service providers, online portals, such as AOL, and mobile operators. In the second quarter, the company also closed a Series B round of $12.5M in venture capital and significantly strengthened its solution by introducing important new support for BlackBerry and the iPhone 3G.
