On-Bus ITS is mandatory for the 10,000 buses and any future buses funded under JnNURM II programme of urban renewal mission announced by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) in August this year. KPIT's product is the first in the country to be certified by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for meeting the stringent specifications of JnNURM II.

Tailored to address the characteristic Indian operating conditions, this robust solution will enable bus transport authorities in reducing response time to emergencies and enhance operating efficiency with features such as automatic vehicle location, vehicle health monitoring and diagnostics.

These features will be managed by the back-end support offered by KPIT at the depot control using cloud technology and remote diagnostics. Additionally, KPIT On-Bus ITS helps in enhancing passenger convenience and security with passenger information system and security camera network system that includes features like facial recognition.

KPIT On-Bus ITS will facilitate Bus manufacturers in reducing time-to-market of their buses for JnNURM II and will provide them the benefit of a single point supplier for their ITS needs. At the core of the product is the indigenous technology developed from the ground up by KPIT's team of automotive engineering specialists and subject matter experts, for 24x7 uninterrupted operations.

"The key highlight is the robust design of the product and its agile architecture, coupled with sustainable technology that will integrate future application development" said Anup Sable, senior VP, Automotive & Engineering, KPIT. "Providing technology products and solutions for the automotive industry is integral to KPIT's strategy, and this solution exemplifies our continued commitment to make mobility smarter, greener, safer and affordable."
