The partnering is expected to offer a total solution composed of VaST’s defacto standard automotive virtualization tools supported by all major semiconductor suppliers, and KPIT’s automotive software services, in-vehicle network software, software platforms and System engineering services proven with over 50+ automotive OEMs, Tier 1s and semiconductor suppliers globally, it said.

“With increasing complexity, the hardware and software development cycles are getting stretched for our customers. By collaborating with VaST, we will provide simulation models for peripheral functions and micro controllers that enable development of software on virtual platforms,” said Kishor Patil, chief executive officer and managing director of KPIT Cummins.

“This will provide added value to our customers by reducing their software development cycle time and ensuring higher quality software,” he added.

“Design methodologies are undergoing rapid change at leading OEM’s and Tier 1’s. Consistently, we see a need for specialized highly skilled services and software IP to help accelerate adoption of virtualization methodologies. KPIT Cummins has both the skills and customer traction and is therefore an ideal partner,” said Alain Labat, chief executive officer, VaST.
