KPIT Cummins bags WSJ Innovation Award

PUNE, INDIA: KPIT Cummins, a product engineering and IT consulting partner to global manufacturing corporations, on Tuesday announced that it has been awarded with the prestigious Wall Street Journal (WSJ) 2011 Technology Innovation Award.

The WSJ technology innovation awards, presented every year to companies making technological breakthroughs, has honored KPIT Cummins as the winner in the ‘transport’ category for its plug-in parallel hybrid solution Revolo, said a press release.

Revolo is a plug-in parallel hybrid solution that converts gasoline-powered vehicles into a hybrid within four to six hours, thereby enhancing fuel efficiency by 35 per cent and reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emissions by over 30 per cent.

The solution comprises an electric motor, electronic motor controller, a battery pack, software for controlling the motor and batteries, and a battery management system.
