NEW DELHI: KPIT
Cummins Infosystems Ltd has been assessed at SEI-CMMI Level 5, the company
said.
According to a statement issued here, all KPIT centres across Pune (Hinjewadi,
Tejas, Technova) and Bangalore (VLSI Centre) are now SEI-CMMI Level 5 compliant.
CMMI Level 5 signifies successful application of government and industry best
practices to a company's management and engineering operations. Essentially a
process improvement framework, it helps an organization implement industry best
practices within the software development life cycle.
This results in enhanced performance of all projects in terms of
predictability, efficiency and quality.
Santhanakrishnan Srinivasan, CMMI, lead appraiser from QAI India Ltd, led the
team and conducted the appraisal using SCAMPI (Standard CMMI Appraisal Method
for Process Improvement) methodology.
KPIT Cummins has adopted practices from CMMI SE/SW V 1.1 (Staged
Representation).
Girish Wardadkar, president and executive director, KPIT, said, "This
certification will result in a number of benefits for our customers such as more
efficient project management and risk reduction, improved productivity, a
shortened software development cycle, lesser overruns of time and cost,
predicatbility, reliability and repeatability of processes.”
