The study which includes leaders from Dell, Intel, and VMware, also included Seamus Crehan, industry research veteran and president of Crehan Research Inc.

Appinions, which uses a machine-learning approach is an influence marketing platform specifically designed to give brands the ability to measure and ignite contextual influence. Its patented algorithms are built on more than a decade of research at Cornell University, and extract and aggregate input from more than six million sources encompassing blogs, social networks, and traditional media. "These are the top influencers that IT customers and luminaries are paying attention and reacting to," said Nyerr Parham, marketing manager at Appinions. "Ranked seventh overall, Seamus Crehan president of Crehan Research Inc., has a tremendous amount of value, trust and influence in the network infrastructure space."

Pica8, Inc., a leader in open systems for software defined networking (SDN) is one of the companies that are using Crehan's data center reports and expertise. "Market research firms are not all created equal, and within the network infrastructure segment, the data center is a hot spot for not only new trends like virtualization, cloud and convergence, it is also a segment with tremendous siloing of information. It takes a real expert to reveal these details in a meaningful way," said Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing, Pica8, Inc. "Business leaders today need not just the trends but the underlying data that helps them understand where the right prospects are. Crehan Research is one such firm with both the macroeconomic view, and the depth to dig into the details in a meaningful way. It came as no surprise to see Crehan a top-ranked firm."
