“I have decided to retire as the President of ACMA. Due to personal reasons and pre-occupation, I felt that devoting time for ACMA would be difficult for me,” said the e-mail sent to association members by Pandya. He will now work as immediate past President within the committee.

Talking about his achievements, during his two years tenure as President, Pandya said, “The biggest achievement was to increase the participation and number of members of the organization, besides, formation of Federation of IT associations of Gujarat ( FITAG).”

He said that the biggest challenge for the organization was to create more business opportunity for the channels, to help them survive during the current downturn in economy.

Speaking to The DQ Week, the new President said, “The role of an organization becomes very important in the present time, when there is a battle of existence rather than of doing business. We need to educate people to increase the bottomline to survive the slowdown,” Thakkar said, informing that he is planning to organize training sessions for members, where they can get some guidance and motivation to take on the tough times. His other priority would be to increase the number of members in the organization. At present, the association has more than 300 members and the new President would like to take this figure to 500.

“I am looking to add small or very small channels in the organization to have better participation and representation at the same time,” he added.
