Kiran Bedi misused funds for computer training

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Former IPS officer and one of the crusaders of Team Anna, Kiran Bedi is allegedly involved in a graft case. She has been charged with forgery, criminal conspiracy and misusing funds meant for computer training.

Following directions from the Patiala House Court, Delhi Police (Crime Branch) on Sunday, has registered a case against her under Section 420, 406 and 120 B of IPC.

Bedi has allegedly siphoned off funds in the name of providing computer education to the children of those employed in the BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP and UP Police.

She allegedly took Rs 50 lakh from software major Microsoft. Sources say that Bedi also maintains a good rapport with other IT and software companies such as Adobe for her endeavors.

Delhi-based lawyer Devinder Singh Chauhan in his petition told the court that Bedi had looted various police organizations and paramilitary forces in the disguise of offering free computer training.

Chauhan also alleged that Bedi has misled the authorities that her Trust would run free computer classes in order to get the permission for community centers in Delhi.

Contrary to the undertaking, Bedi was charging Rs 15,000 per student and the Human Resource Development (HRD) didn’t act despite various complaints against her, he said.
