Kevin Kennedy to be Avaya president, CEO

NEW JERSEY, USA: Avaya Inc., a provider in communication solutions, today announced the appointment of Kevin Kennedy as president and CEO effective from January 2009.

He is currently associated with JDS Uniphase Corporation as chief executive officer and is a member of its board of directors.

Kevin would remain with JDSU until joining Avaya, said a press release. Charles Giancarlo would become chairman of the board when Kennedy assumes the CEO position, it added.

“Kevin Kennedy brings to Avaya a deep understanding of the enterprise communications industry and extensive senior management experience,” said Charles Giancarlo, president and CEO, Avaya.

“He will join Avaya at a time when we are strongly positioned in our industry. Kevin will lead Avaya to even greater success and further our strategy and execution to be the premier enterprise communications partner for our customers,” he added.

Before joining JDSU, he was associated with Openwave Systems, Inc as chief executive officer, the release added.
