Kerala signs MoU with China for IT parks

THIRUVANTHAPURAM: Kerala, the lone participating Indian state in CeBIT Asia 2002 being held in China, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Pudong Software Park for the development of Technopark in Thiruvanthapuram.



Pudong Software Park is the largest technology park in China with over 1000 IT companies functioning from the park. The agreement with Pudong Park is expected to increase job opportunities for IT professionals in China apart from forging joint ventures between companies. Training programs have also being planned as part of the package.



Officials from Pudong Park are expected to visit Technopark during towards the end of the year. The visiting Kerala delegation led by P K Kunhalikutty, IT Minister also held discussions with China Mobile, Tomken Technology Corporation, Motek Software.



These companies had shown interest in investing in the state. The Kerala delegation has demonstrated the human resource and infrastructure, communication, seaport, airport strengths of Kochi to potential investors in China.
