Named e-Housing, the new system is expected to benefit a large number of the scheduled caste people and help eliminate corruption to a large extent, said a press release.

Since almost 90 per cent of the work will be done online by the software, the new system-developed by C-DIT is expected to make the whole process time-bound, efficient and transparent. In order to avoid the middlemen, the Department has entered into a deal with India Post for sending the funds directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries.

Those who require benefits under the Bhavana Nirmana Dhanasahayam Scheme need to start an account at the nearest post office. After completion of every stage of the construction, they have to submit an online application on www.e-housing.kerala.gov.in for installments. Within a short span of seven days, the money will be transferred online to their account after necessary inspection.

The government is also planning to start e-Med in the same model to distribute medicines to patients of the communities at their doorsteps.
