Kerala to collaborate with Karnataka for IT promotion

THIRUVANTHAPURAM: Kerala and Karnataka would work jointly for

promotion of IT industry the details of which would be announced on the

concluding day of the 4-day IT Kerala 2002, the mega IT event of Kerala that

begins on August 1, 2002. 



P K Kunhalikutty, Kerala IT Minister told newspersons that the first round of
discussions between A K Antony, Kerala Chief Minister and his Karnataka counter

part S M Krishna had already taken place in Bangalore. The next round would be

held between the CM's in Thiruvananthapuram where Krishna is scheduled to

inaugurate the IT event.

Kunhalikutty said that Kerala had much to learn from the experience of Karnataka in development of IT industry. Therefore, the state has sought Karnataka's assistance. The four-day event is being attended by over 150 companies including names like IBM, WeP, Wipro Infotech, Rational, EMC, CDAC, Datacraft,Intel and AMD.



According to the event managers, IT Kerala 2002 is easily the second largest IT event in the country, next only to the Bangalore IT.COM. The two-window event, conventions and exhibition, is expected to attract 20,000 business visitors, apart from two lakh regular visitors.
