Kenmec completes work on solar power plant

TAIPEI: Construction of a solar power plant with capability of 1.138 MWp has just been completed by Kenmec Mechanical Engineering. The plant is located in Tainan and operations are expected to begin officially on July 11, 2010. Sources at the company say that the new plant will function as a demonstration solar power system with a focus of attracting future system installation projects.

Kenmec, is better known to the world as an automation equipment maker. The company entered the solar system market in 2009, and has, since that time won several governmental solar projects in Taiwan. Now in order to expand, its sights are set on markets in China and Southeast Asia.



Company sources point out that due to their extensive experience in automation equipment and additionally having a poly-Si solar cell subsidiary Taienery Tech, Kenmec is well equipped to provide cost-effective solar system installations. The company installed 3MWp of solar systems in 2009 and 3-5MWp are expected for 2010, which together contribute more than NT$100 million (US$31 million) in revenues.

Kenmec also provides solar module production equipment for both poly-Si and a-Si technology.
