NEW DELHI: Keane, Inc., a business and information technology (IT) consulting firm, has announced that it has signed a five-year, $33 million, Application Development and Management (ADM) Outsourcing contract with Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), a diversified energy company based in New Jersey.

PSEG subsidiaries include PSE&G, one of the largest combined electric and gas companies in the US, and PSEG Power, an independent power producer with more than 16,000 megawatts of generation in operation or development. Keane would utilize its existing Program Management Office (PMO) on-site at PSEG’s New Jersey facility to manage interaction with the client, work distribution, logistics and local support. Delivery teams from Keane’s development center in Hyderabad, India would utilize Keane’s Application Management Methodology (AMM) that incorporates core project and quality management disciplines in the delivery of services.

Under the scope of this agreement, Keane would provide ongoing maintenance and support of PSEG’s mission critical application software including PSE&G’s Customer Information System (CIS) which connects data from customer interaction and maintenance requests with back-office systems that manage resources from personnel, dispatch, material assignment, and billing. This deal extends the long-term relationship with PSEG that began in 1996 with Keane managing PSEG’s business applications and its Y2K compliance program. In addition to ongoing application outsourcing services covered by this agreement, Keane would continue to provide project-based enhancement services as needed.

"PSEG must contain costs to ensure long-term operational success in the energy sector and to address the challenges created by volatile financial and energy markets," said Bert Simpson, senior vice president of information technology and CIO, PSEG."We decided to access the cost benefit of moving ongoing application maintenance and support offshore to India, and we are pleased to make this transition with Keane, a long-term partner that knows our application environment. We look forward to lowering costs while maintaining high quality. Our history with Keane has shown that they can deliver as expected -- on-time and within budget," he added.
