“From stock exchanges and mobile phones to online gaming devices to cars, viruses are infecting everything,” Kaspersky said in an interview given to The Economic Times during his maiden visit to India.

“Recently, the UK police arrested a hacker who had almost stolen $220 million from some of the largest banks of the world,” he pointed out.

Kaspersky said even stock exchanges are impacted by the threat of hackers.

According to him, the existing laws are insufficient to address complex cyber crimes.

Observing that the Third World War is going to be fought in cyberspace, he said during a cyber war, one can paralyze the IT infrastructure of a nation by distributed denial of service (DDOS) attacks thus paralyzing the financial system.
