"Preliminary investigations by the city police and vital clues available so far indicate that it was a terror attack. We suspect it could be a handy work of terror or militant organisations.

We are yet to identify who are behind this incident. No group or individual has claimed responsibility so far for it. Terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) are appeared to behind the attack.

The motive appears to create panic or fear psychosis in a city like Bangalore, which has gained global reputation as the nerve centre of IT, BT, defence, science and space activities," Singh told reporters.

Singh today reviewed the security system across the state at a high-level meeting with top officials of the home department and police following the terror attack, which killed a Delhi-based professor, MC Puri and injured five others.

"We have stepped up security at all vital installations in the city and deployed additional forces at major IT and BT (biotech) firms, especially in the electronics city on the outskirts of Bangalore.

All public sector enterprises and multinational firms have been directed to beef up their security system and ensure the safety of their employees and establishments," Singh said.
