Kanbay to open international centre

PUNE: Kanbay has completed the acquisition of Adjoined Consulting.

Kanbay, a systems integrator company, had acquired U.S.- based technology consulting company, Adjoined for $165 million in February.

“It was the largest acquisition by an Indo-centric company. The acquisition has expanded our technological horizon. It has helped Kanbay strengthen its presence in new technologies front, like Netweaver (SAP) and Fusion (Oracle),” says Atul Phull, head (India Marketing), Kanbay.

Recently, Kanbay had a made an announcement of investing $50 million in its India operations. The company has set up a campus in Hyderabad, having a capacity for 3,500 people. Another center is functioning in Chennai.

Kanbay has also opened a training center in Pune. All the development work is currently being done from India, out of its Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai

But, now the company is looking at setting development centers in other regions in South Asia. “We are looking at other locations internationally for development centers. Some of the locations we are scouting are in South America and West Indies Island. There are lot of benefits that can accrue from a development center in these regions, as it will be in the same time zone,” says Cyprian D’souza, managing director (India), Kanbay.

The company is also looking at Eastern Europe to cater to its operations in Mainland Europe.

“For the next few years, there is a cost advantage that one can tap by setting up operations in East Europe. But, India scores when it comes to scaling up,” he adds.

According to D’souza, Kanbay will set up development center in the next 2-3 years. “Disaster recovery and risk mitigation is an important issue for international clients,” he says.

Founded in 1989, Kanbay has close to 6,500 associates worldwide.
