K2 unveils blackpoint beta 2 software

WASHINGTON,USA: K2, a provider in software applications, today announced the free availability of K2 blackpoint beta 2 software, featuring a tech preview of the Silverlight-based K2 Web Designer for workflows.

The blackpoint software eliminates complexity and allows users to quickly build workflow solutions and process-driven applications within Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, said a press release.

It can be used to create new SharePoint workflows that span libraries, sites, InfoPath forms, server farms and organizations; manage approvals; and route documents and list items, it added.

"This software is totally focused on enhancing the workflow and workflow-based solution capabilities of SharePoint," said Adriaan van Wyk, chief executive officer, K2.

"By empowering non-developers to create and consume applications in SharePoint, K2 blackpoint frees IT departments to focus on other mission-critical SharePoint applications," he added.

The blackpoint is a subset of K2 blackpearl features and tools, and it also offers an upgrade path so organizations can grow their investment and adds capabilities over time.

K2 blackpoint beta 2 is feature-complete software that offers drag-and-drop tools and is inclusive of Microsoft Office-style designer (K2 Studio), the release added.
