BANGALORE: Juniper Networks, a global router company, has announced the opening of its technical facility in Bangalore. Being the fourth of its kind for Juniper, the facility will be involved in the testing and development of router software.

"We have a global engineering force of more than 800, around 500 of who are involved in software development per se. Our total engineering strength in Bangalore stands at 27 now and a large part of them has been hired from Allegro Networks," said Juniper Networks engineering VP, Ashok Krishnamurti. He was unwilling though to comment on the future growth plans of the company.

The company also announced the expansion of its technical certification program for IP engineers to cover four levels instead of the present two. The company said that it is on the look out for a training partner who will help Juniper in taking these certification classes to more classrooms in the country. The company informed that it would select someone shortly.

Speaking on the global IP market, Krishnamurti said, "The global IP market will be a little over $ two billion. During the last quarter, Juniper brought in revenues of $ 165 million and APAC, of which India is a part constituted 30 percent of those revenues."

The company operates in India through a combination of direct sales and partnerships. It has around 19 customers in the country and has two offices in Delhi and Mumbai.
