Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central university located in New Delhi, India. It was established in 1969 and named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister. The university is known for leading faculties and research emphasis on liberal arts and applied sciences.
Applications are invited for the post of JRF in the ICMR funded project titled ‘Mechanisms of Retinal Degeneration in Retinitis Pigmentosa Type 12: Role of the crumbs-homology proteins-1 and -2’ in the laboratory of Dr Saima Aijaz, Special Centre for Molecular Medicine, JNU, New Delhi 110067.
Essential Qualifications
The applicant must have an MSc degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent and should have qualified UGC-CSIR, UGC-NET (including lectureship), GATE OR a national level examination conducted by central government departments/institutions/agencies such as DBT, DST, ICMR, MHRD, IISc, IIT, and IISER. Additionally, the candidate should have one year experience of working in a life science laboratory.
Desirable Qualifications
JNU encourages candidates having previous experience in cloning, protein expression and purification; mammalian cell culture, bacterial culture and fluorescence microscopy to apply.
Salary: Rs. 31,000 plus 24% HRA per month.
Duration
The post is co-terminus with the project and the selected candidate will be appointed on a purely temporary basis initially for a period of one year which will be renewed, based on satisfactory performance, for a maximum period of three years.
