WhatsApp Video and Voice chat gets an upgrade; join missed calls with this new feature

WhatsApp has started rolling out a new interface for video and voice calls on iOS as well as android. The new Whatsapp Video and Voice chat feature will allow users to join a group video or voice call after it had started. The latest design changes are available for iOS, which gives the WhatsApp video chats, the same interface as FaceTime. Additionally, users can invite other people to join the call, and in case the contact is unable to pick the call on the first go, the participants will even have an option of calling that person again right from the calling screen. The contact can also join the missed group video call right from the top screen too.

Join a missed group video call

1. Open WhatsApp, then tap the CALLS tab.

2.If the call is ongoing, tap the call you’d like to join. This will open the call info screen.

3. From the call menu, tap Join.

How to invite someone to join a group video call?

1. Join an incoming group video call

2. You’ll receive a notification when someone invites you to join a group video call. If you can’t join, tap Ignore. To open the call info screen, tap Join.

3. From the call menu, you can also preview the call participants and other invitees.

While on the call, tap Open to open the call info screen. Tap Add participant to add more contacts to the call and tap RING to send a notification to people who’ve already been invited.

Many users look for the option - if any WhatsApp update for video and voice calls will allow users to record the calls. The answer is No. The video calls on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted and thus, participants cannot record the video calls. Yes, you can take screenshots of the participants in the video call and there will be no notification alert that will go of the same. But WhatsApp is unlikely to allow call recording for WhatsApp Video and Voice Calls.
