Job market shows signs of recovery

NEW DELHI, INDIA: With the macro economic situation improving and capital markets doing better, India's job market, hit badly by the slowdown last year, has started showing signs of recovery, industry experts said here Friday.

"The market is improving. We expect the third quarter to be better," Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founder and chief executive of job portal Naukri.com, told reporters on the sidelines of TiEcon Delhi conference on entrepreneurship.

"IT sector is little delayed, but other sectors have started picking up growth."

Bikhchandani, however, did not divulge any percentage figures.

Pramod Bhasin, chief executive and president of outsourcing major Genpact, expressed confidence in the sector's growth.

"There are signs of recovery in the outsourcing sector too," Bhasin, who also came to attend the conference, told reporters.

"Genpact will see about 6-9 percent of growth this year. We plan to hire about 6,000-8,000 employees globally," he said.

Genpact is also planning to open five new service centres for India-to-India business in two years.
