MUMBAI: McAfee Inc. has appointed Jeff Green as senior vice president of McAfeeâ Avertâ Labs and Product Development.
In his new role, Green will be responsible for McAfee's entire research organization, located throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. He will oversee research teams focused on viruses, hacker/targeted attacks, spyware, spam, phishing, vulnerabilities and patches, and host and network intrusion technologies. He will also lead long-term security research to ensure that McAfee stays ahead of emerging threats, McAfee said in a statement.
Green, a veteran in software security has spent last seven years with McAfee as senior vice president of product development. He was instrumental in helping McAfee provide protection to customers when 'Melissa', the first major email-borne virus, hit and was first to deliver anti-virus gateway appliances. Before joining McAfee, Green held senior management positions at Dr. Solomon's and Clearswift.
"Jeff's proven track record of building world-class security products and technologies will make him instrumental in this important role," said Christopher Bolin, chief technology officer, McAfee.
"Jeff has already implemented the most granular emergency customer communication program in McAfee's history, and will continue to look for new and innovative ways to help keep our customers protected," he added.
Green is a graduate in Computer Science of the University of East Anglia.
