JEE Mains and NEET 2020: Students and parents raise concerns as COVID-19 cases rise in Delhi

By : |July 2, 2020 0

There are several reasons why NTA should postpone JEE Mains and NEET 2020. For one, the cases in major areas where there are centres, like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, etc are on the rise. Next, students have to travel interstate to give exams. But due to the lockdown, trains and flights are not on. Then, students who have to travel within the city, too, don’t have any cab, bus, metro facility.

In that case, parents and students both are very stressed and the HRD Minister is not responding to the situation. Today, let’s have a look at Delhi. There are 30k plus active cases in Delhi. The capital of India is at high-risk of community transmission. How does the government plan to take exams in such a situation? The answer is simple, they can’t.

This parents and students are continuously asking the HRD Ministry yo postpone exams. There is even a group- Delhi Parents Association. They have filed a writ petition to reach out to the HC/SC.

They have also written a letter to SC.  The letter states, that on an average more than 15,000 cases are reported daily in India and a total number of infected cases crossed over 4.90 lakh on June 26. It further added, “The most important question to be asked is who will take responsibility if, God forbid, anything happens to any student.”

What are the major concerns of the students on conducting JEE Mains and NEET?

1. Interstate travel

2. Rising cases

3. The HRD Ministry cancelled other exams, then why not these entrance exams
