Swamy is quite vocal about his opinions and is constantly in courts petitioning some change or the other. He is respected and followed by many Indians for his unbiased opinions and seeking justice in many cases. Most of these have been political, so the educational petition will be a new place. Although, he has been a teacher and sympathisers with students.

What do students want?

Students have constantly asked the SC, NTA and the Education Ministry to postpone the JEE Main, Advanced and NEET exams due to the pandemic. They have stated many reasons.

When the Supreme Court rejecting the plea of further postponement of the JEE Main and NEET, the NTA has come up with some directions. It has advised candidates to follow these before and during the exams. But the question is how much of this is feasible?

It’s not just the aftermath of the virus that has rendered students in panic, but the beforemath too.

The NTA has asked students to sign a COVID undertaking to write tests. Which means that students have to sign a self-declaration form along with a photograph. It should state that they have not tested positive for Covid-19. Also, it should mention that the applicant did not have had any symptoms like fever, dry cough or difficulty in breathing in recent days.

The students fear contracting the disease and want Swamy to help further the case. They are using the hashtag Swamyjihelp_NEETJEEaspirants.

He writes:

"I write this urgent letter because of my authentic information from every part of India that required infrastructure of the country is not yet in place for students to take the NEET/JEE & other Competitive Exams. In the city of Bombay for example, there is no public transport and people have to come from in the adjacent areas, often 20kms to 30kms away. There is widespread desperation amongst the youth since this exam is "make or break" for them and they have to take it fully prepared.

Holding the exam, in my opinion, you may lead to a large number of suicides around the country of youth. Moreover, the Supreme Court judgment doesn't bind the government at all, on whether to now or two weeks later or two months later, the examinations. It is a policy decision of the Government.

Therefore, I request you to please inform the Ministry of Education that these exams can be conducted after the Deepavali. I spoken to Minister, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal and he was sympathetic to my suggestion but naturally, since this would require your concurrence, hence I am writing this urgent letter to you. Please direct the Ministry of Education delay these examinations till after Deepavali."

On Monday, the Supreme Court had rejected a plea for the postponement of the two entrance tests due to the coronavirus outbreak. The court said that life has to go on despite the virus outbreak and that it could not put the careers of students in jeopardy by interfering in the National Testing Agency's decision to hold these in September.
