JEE Main 2021 exam dates depend on CBSE Board and Engineering Admissions for the current year

The JEE Main 2021 exam dates are a major concern for students wanting to take admission to engineering colleges. The already delay in JEE Main 2020; now the likelihood of exams being held in February instead of January are raising eyebrows. At first, it could've just been a rumor. Turns out, it is true. HT reported that a senior official at NTA has made a comment on the delay of the exams

“As the engineering admission is still underway, it is being considered that JEE-Main of 2021 be pushed to February. This will give a chance to students who were not satisfied with the choice of the branch or their score,” the senior official said. “Rising number of coronavirus cases is also a factor,” the official added. Yet, in any case, we expect an official notification on the date of the exam to come out soon. Further, the application process will likely begin in December.

The debate on the delay of JEE Main 2021

Institutes have been debating whether or not JEE Main 2021 gets pushed to February or March. But, as per NTA Director-General Vineet Joshi, they are planning to hold the January session for JEE Main 2021 on time. Although. planning another exam right after September may take time.

IIT Delhi Director Prof Ramgopal Rao confirmed the same. He also added that NTA can delay the exam by a month. Not just conduction of JEE Main 2021, 10th-12th board exams is at stake as well. If board examinations don’t happen in March, or schools don’t open in time, then it impacts JEE Main 2021 exams directly.

Further, a senior official at NTA also said that all eyes are on CBSE, as to when they announce the 12th exam dates. Moreover, IITs and other engineering institutes have still not begun the academic year. Thus, the JEE Main 2021 exam dates depend on CBSE Board and Engineering Admissions for the current year.
