Informing about the same Roopesh Mangotra, General Secretary, JCDA mentioned, “I attended a function that was held by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on March 25. Moving further we are planning to hold discussions with the Finance Ministry.”

The agenda of the meeting is two fold. While JCDA will put forward the demand for an IT complex to be set-up in the region, the association will also raise the issue of VAT that is affecting resellers in the region. In J&K there is 12.5 percent VAT on cartridges, toners and other media supplies, whereas the same in other states is four percent. Mangotra further added that J&K does close to Rs 150 crore of IT business and hence the dealers are looking forward to support from the government in the form of uplifting the trade since every other city in the country has already rolled out the concept of IT parks and complex.

Echoing the same sentiments, Arvind Koul, President, JCDA mentioned, “We will place a demand for setting up an IT complex in J&K so that the dealers in the region get shops in the same at subsidized rates. This way we will also be able to boost business in the region. In addition we do close to 30 to 40 percent of government business and hence we will ask the government to give us preference when it comes to executing such orders instead of passing the contract to outsiders.”
