Unlike other internet telephony providers who provide calls from PC to phone, JAJAH claim to offer calls from mobile handsets to any landline or handheld device, through voice over internet protocol (VoIP).

Currently there are a handful of internet telephony service providers (ITSP) in India operating in the VoIP market targeting mainly the international call market. Started in 2005, the company has its R&D center in Israel.

Industry sources informed that the company would be setting up its operations in India this week. The formal announcement will be made today.

The company is betting high on the Indian VoIP market, which is considered to an emerging market for internet telephony. Currently the major ITPS players in this market are the Net4 India, Mayatel and World phone.

With the ITSPs offering cheaper international calls, the new entrant into the market would create huge competition for the existing players, as JAJAH bets on offering internet telephony calls from the mobile rather than the traditional way of PC to landline calling.
