JAIPUR, INDIA: For long channel partners in Jaipur have been complaining about the lack of activities in the association, though there is existence of three associations including Rajasthan Computers Traders Association (RCTA), Raj IT Forum and the newly formed Raiser Plaza Computers’ Traders Association (RPCTA). Now, the associations have suddenly emerged from their inert phase and Jaipur is hosting two IT expos within a period of one week.

RCTA's IT exhibition finally commenced on September 4. There were around 70 stalls and vendors like Canon, Samsung, LG, Intel, HP, Acer, NComputing, BenQ, Wipro, Epson, Cyberoam, NCS, IBM, Intex,Tally, Busy, Esys, Supertron, i-Ball, Zebronics, TVSE, Bit Defender and Quickheal participated.

This week IT Voice with the support of RPCTA is also organizing a five-day expo from September 9 to September 13 and the event will showcase IT, telecom and electronic products. The organizers of the event have invited RAJCOMP (a state agency, established by the Government of Rajasthan, BSNL, TATA Indicom, RICEM and Data Infosys) to participate.

Two expos hosted at the same time in an upcountry market indicates that the associations in the market are in fierce competition with each other and conducting simultaneous events could be an objective to downplay each other rather than bring awareness at the customer level.

When inquired with, Tarun Taunk, Organizer IT Voice Expo elaborated,

“There will be 150 stalls for IT as well as telecom at expo. All the vendors are participating except Intel as we have confirmation of AMD. RCTA had planned to organize their expo in mid-August and we had decided on these dates much before them. Because RCTA did not plan their event it is now almost coinciding with our expo.”

Taunk further added that though the expo of RCTA is being organized ahead of IT Voice Expo, he is confident of attracting large number of visitors. “The event will be held at Ambedkar Circle which is strategically located to draw large footfalls, whereas, Jawahar Kala Kendra, where RCTA is organizing, is located far from the city and is mainly for painting exhibitions,” he added.

Commenting on the same, Deepak Sharda, Secretary, RCTA said that IT Voice Expo is an exhibition for IT, telecom and consumer goods but the expo by RCTA is a solely an IT exhibition.

RCTA states that they have 70 partners on board while IT Voice Expo claims to have the confirmation of 150 channel partners. The saga of two expo’s shows that Jaipur clearly remains a divided market.
